"The Patriot" wins Jostens National Yearbook Program of Excellence Award
Pee Dee Academy received a Jostens 2023 National Yearbook Program of Excellence award at the Gold Level. This recognizes engaging yearbooks that reflect a broad representation of the student body while helping students develop 21st century skills such as communication, collaboration, and information and communication technologies literacy. Jostens is proud to recognize those who have created an exceptional yearbook for their school and community.

 Pee Dee Academy Mourns the Passing of Mr. Hal Townsend
June 6th, 1939 - December 28th, 2022
Mr. Townsend, more affectionately known as "Mr. T" by his PDA family, served as our Headmaster for 25 years. In 1995, he came out of retirement from public education to guide our school through an era of tremendous growth with him at the helm. While our leader, he also served on the Executive Committee of the South Carolina Independent School Association (SCISA). He retired from PDA, and his career in education, in June 2020 

Mr. T began his career in education after graduating from Wake Forest in 1961. In 1966, he began a 25 year stint as principal at his alma mater, Lake View High School, before retiring from public education in 1991.

Allen Moore Wins Soil & Water Conservation Scholarship
Congratulations to PDA Senior Allen Moore who won the James F Huggins, Sr. Marion County Soil & Water Conservation Scholarship, which is a scholarship that goes to a student majoring in an agricultural or environmental related field.

Samantha King - 2021-22 SCISA High School Teacher of the Year
Congratulations to Pee Dee Academy Science teacher Mrs. Samantha King on being selected as the South Carolina Independent School Association (SCISA) High School Teacher of the Year for the 2021-22 school year. She was picked from the over 8,000 SCISA teachers throughout South Carolina and Georgia and named the winner from among three association-wide finalists April 6th at a ceremony in Orangeburg.


PDA Trades Class Receives Donations
Thanks to recent donations the Trades class now has an air compressor, compound miter saw, an electrical circuit tracer and non contact voltage detector along with electrical supplies to teach residential and commercial wiring basics. Total donated value exceeds $1,100!

Softball & Baseball State House Visit - February 13, 2019
On Wednesday, February 13th, the 2018 State Championship Varsity Softball & Baseball players, coaching staffs and A.D. Lon Spivey were recognized at the South Carolina State House.  Rep. Lucas Atkinson (D - District 57) presented both teams with resolutions from the General Assembly recognizing their achievements during the 2018 season.  Thank you to Rep. Atkinson for arranging this memorable experience for our teams!

PDA Booster Club Receives $2,500 Gift From Ed Blackburn
Mr. Ed Blackburn was a winner of the 2016 Monsanto Fund America's Farmers Grow Communities grant and presented $2500 of his award to the Pee Dee Academy Booster Club. (pictured are Ed Blackburn and Headmaster Hal Townsend)

At the January 28th home basketball game vs. Florence Christian, PDA recognized Leon Robinson "Mr. Leon" for his 30 years of service to our school as custodian, ambassador, and friend! He was also presented a monetary gift from the funds generated by our first "Eagle Run" in January. Thank you Leon from the entire PDA family!
PDA Receives $2,500 Gift from David Owens!
Mr. David Owens was the winner of a Monsanto Fund grant and presented $2500 of his America's Farmers Grow Communities award to Pee Dee Academy. David has three children that attend PDA: AnaClaire, Carrington, and Lucy.
