While PDA only offers one advanced placement course at this time, college credit may be earned with Dual Credit classes. Fifth year math and English are both Dual Credit classes. Provision is made for other Dual Credit and Virtual School classes as needed.
Any summer course work must be pre-approved by the Headmaster or Guidance Counselor.
A College Preparatory diploma requires 22 units. However, most Pee Dee Academy graduates accumulate 24 units as students must take 6 classes each year.
Pee Dee Academy graduates acceptance rate to post secondary education is 100% for those who applied. PDA graduates have been accepted and successful at most all SC colleges and universities. Some students have been quite successful out of state as well. Since 2008, over 78% of Pee Dee Academy graduates have earned one of the state lottery scholarships.
PDA participates in programs from the College Board and Harcourt Educational Measurement, which are used nationwide by both private and public schools. The PSAT 8 & 9 is given in the 8th & 9th grade. The PSAT 10 is given to sophomores and the PSAT/NMSQT is given to juniors. The ASVAB, a vocational aptitude battery, is administered to students in their senior year by the Armed Services.
Pee Dee Academy administers the Iowa Assessments Test to all students in grades 1st – 7th annually. The Iowa Assessments are a test given nationally to measure basic academic achievement.
In the spring of 2000, Pee Dee Academy adopted the State Uniform Grading Policy, which is required for students to qualify for the Life Scholarship and other education funding provided through the South Carolina Lottery.
The scale changed in the 2016-2017 academic school year to the 10-point scale:
